Before understanding what Nfts are and how you can benefit as a creative/business from this space, you need to understand some basic concepts; one of which is the Web.3. If you follow me on social media, I’m sure you’ve seen me mentioning Web.3 already, but what is it and how does it differ from Web.1 and Web.2?
Web 1 - according to Berners-Lee, is the “read-only web.” It is the early web that allowed us to search for information and read it only. There was very little in the way of user interaction or content generation.
Web 2 - as Berners-Lee described it, is the or the “read- write” web, in which users can interact, participate and share information and content. Web 2 is the era of social media and advertising. Most of the internet is con- trolled by a central authority such as Google and Facebook, which can access your personal information and collect your data.
Web 3 - it refers to a decentralised online ecosystem based on the blockchain (will explain better the blockchain technology later on). Platforms and apps built on Web3 won’t be owned by a central gatekeeper, but rather by the users themselves, who would earn their ownership stake by contributing to the development and maintenance of those services. For example, by using the Brave browser (a new more secure Web.3 browser similar to Google Chrome... but more on that later in this email), you can earn free BAT, their token and cryptocurrency.
In other words Web3 aims to make the web more equitable by allowing the greater public to be involved in its operation, becoming more transparent in how it is run.
Web3 is not in the distant future. It is now readily accessible, bringing richer, more multifaceted, immersive engagement through innovative digital assets and virtual experiences. They can launch virtual properties in the Metaverse, granting access to NFT holders as an exclusive benefit, similar to a members-only club; enable Play2Earn, Learn2Earn, Share2Earn, and incentives; and merge digital retail with real-life and e-commerce experiences in a physical-virtual fusion that will become part of our everyday lives.
When a new technology emerges, it is the independent freelancers and micro-businesses who are the first that should adopt and innovate with it. They don't have overheads to worry about, so they should be more nimble and willing to take risks. They can afford to experiment with new technology and provide innovative products/strategies to reach a new audience. Entrepreneurs, creators, and marketers who are willing to embrace change will benefit from the Web3 renaissance. Web3's potential is far from fully defined, but now is the time to become educated and acclimated. Because change is on its way. Now you might be wondering; if we are entering the Web.3 era, why am I still using Google Chrome and Safari which collects my datas and invade my privacy without me even realising? I'm talking about Converse with my flatmate, and then I see Converse ads on my Instagram feed. Isn't that insane? I will give you a piece of advice; chance browser! Use Brave! Brave, is a Web.3 privacy-focused browser that blocks third-party ads and trackers by default. Not only that, you will also earn free crypto just by using it! What is better than free crypto? You can download brave from this link.
